policy decisions taken by the Senate. A Board of
Trustees assists the Executive Council,
providing continuity in decision making over a
period of time. An Academic Council functions as
a focal body in matters of educational and
academic concerns. This body determines the
quality of study and teaching, curriculum
matters, the standard and types of examinations,
methods of evaluation, teaching materials,
number and qualification for the admission of
students. Its primary responsibility is to
safeguard the overall quality of education at
Kathmandu University. The university, in line
with its mission and policy, operates by setting
up Schools of different faculty, each
functioning autonomously under the aegis of the
university. Each School has a faculty board to
function under the supervision of the Academic
Council. The Faculty Board of each School is
responsible for approving its educational and
academic programs. There are different subject
committees under the faculty board to recommend
the curriculum of the programs and the changes.
