Although the first program to be offered by the new university in 1992 through its first school (School of Science) was the Intermediate of Science(I.Sc.),steadily other programs have been offered.

The School of Management was opened in August 1993 and two different programs were launched at the post graduate level:a full time two years Master in Business Administration(MBA) course and a one-year full-time Pre-MBA course.The school of management is based at Man Bhawan in Lalitpur, Kathmandu.

In 1994,the school of Engineering was opened,and at the outset a range of different undergraduate level programs on computer engineering,electrical & electronics engineering , and mechanical engineering were launched. In addition,the School of Science started undergraduate program in pharmacy and biology in the same year.Later on it has started four years course in enviromental science. Since August 2003, four year B.Tech.in Biotechnology has been launched. M.Phil and Ph.D. programs in mathematics ,physics and chemistry subjects are launched from September 1997. These two schools are located at the University's premises on Dhulikhel. The School of Medical Sciences August 2001 in close collaboration with Harvard MBBS program in five year affilated colleges. It is also offering technical level program in Nursing , Laboratory technical, Medical Assistant, Ophthalmology, Physio-therapy. The school has M.S. (Orthopedic Surgery), M.Ch. (Neurosurgery), MSMD (Pathology), and M.Sc. (Microbiology-Medical) programs.

The Schoool of Education has started M. Phil. and Ph.D. programs. The School of Arts is offering four-years B.A. Honors (Buddhist Studies) from September 2002 and will also be offering other programs in undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the near future. Meanwhile a Department of Music, under the School of Arts, is established at Bhaktapur and a three-year bachelor level program is offered since August 1996.
